Choice –by any name = Pier & Waterfront Solutions

Pier & Waterfront Solutions offers more dock choices than any Door County dock dealer.  Most dealers offer a limited choice of aluminum docks or possibly a lightweight steel dock. Aluminum is popular because it is lightweight and easier to handle.  But are they always the best choice for you?

Let’s look at the overall picture.

Pier & Waterfront Solutions is your exclusive ShoreMaster dealer on the Door County peninsula.  ShoreMaster offers (5) aluminum dock frame styles.  These include configurations for roll-in, stationary, and floating docks.

Now that’s a selection worth investigating!

In general, all ShoreMaster docks are made from the heaviest aluminum materials.  In fact, they are almost twice as heavy as other brands.  ShoreMaster dock frames are the strongest aluminum frames made. That’s why they hold up so well on the Bay.  They are unmatched in quality and have a 15-year structural warranty.

Here is a comparison of the dock choices PWS offers and why they are so popular:

RS 4 –image of ShoreMaster RS4

ShoreMaster RS4 features a 4″ side rail, 10′ and 12′ lengths. There are seven types of decking available. You can use 5-sided aluminum or round steel legs. It’s ideal for calm waters on an inland lake or a sheltered area on the Bay.

RS 4 Curved –

                           RS4 Curved dock

The RS4 Curved dock is built to the same rigorous specs as the RS 4 shown above. What’s different is the availability of 45 – degree and 90 – degree curved sections.

These curved sections allow for more configurations than anyone else offers. (Hint – You can use curved sections with ANY ShoreMaster dock frame to genuinely make your dock unique.

RS7*

Features a 7″ side rail system. Available in 8′ and 16′ sections. Ideal for rough waters in an open area.

TS9*

Uses a 9″ Truss construction side frame. 8′ and 16′ sections are available. Use with 5-sided aluminum legs or steel legs— ideal for rough waters and most open areas.

FTS9 –

The FTS9 has the identical construction of the TS9 in all respects. The frames have floats attached and are ideal for soft muddy bottoms.

Even MORE Choices

There are nine different types of decking available for the ShoreMaster
frames shown above.

Poly Dock – http://polydockproducts.com/

                  PolyDock floating dock

Poly Dock is a modular dock design made of rotationally molded polyethylene. This floating dock does not have the unsightly black floats.

Poly Dock is a floating dock system that can withstand up to 2′ waves. It’s ideal for inland lakes or rivers with muddy bottoms and large water fluctuations.

Is aluminum the best choice on the Bay?

Aluminum dock frames may not always be the best dock solution with the current high water and heavy storms.  Even though water levels are down this year, they are still above average by 14″.

Is there another choice?

              3-Seasons Pier on Lake Michigan

PWS now offers the Exclusive all galvanized steel        3-Season Pier.

The 3-Season Pier meets PWS‘s demanding specifications for strength and durability. It’s a one-of-a-kind dock.

The frames weigh over a quarter ton without the oversized steel legs and decking. 3-Season piers withstand just about everything Mother Nature can throw at it. No Wisconsin manufacturer builds a heavier frame.

     Gray Decking

Speaking of decking, PWS recommends flow-through decking for the 3- Season pier. This type of decking relieves most of the upward pressure caused by a storm’s high waves.

Is the 3 – Season Pier just another steel dock?

PWS was not willing to build just any steel dock. It had to meet their strict standards – or – PWS would not put their name on it.  It is our fastest growing product.

Who installs the 3-Season Pier?

PWS installs everything we offer. Our unique ATF’s and the 40′ barge with the 60′ crane make the job look easy.

Now you know why Pier & Waterfront Solutions is so popular. We offer everything you need for your dock or lift.

“Small Barge” for Dock Installs

“Small Barge”

In a March 30, 2021 article, PWS announced the latest addition to our dock & boat lift install equipment. Namely – our “small barge.” We now have a much clearer picture to show you.

The “Small Barge” measures 12′ x 40′, so it’s not so small after all. Powered by (2) – 225 HP motors it requires a semi to transport it.

Where has it been since that article?

                                                                    “Small Barge”

It’s been undergoing retrofitting and adjustments until we were ready to launch it.

In this picture, you see the barge supported on the four downriggers. The downriggers suspend the barge above the water to weather storms and stabilize the barge during installations. With the entire barge suspended in the air we are able to handle everything nature can throw at us.

What does the addition of the “Small Barge” mean for you?

It may be showing up on your waterfront. No, this is not meant to just haul rock or boulders like our other barge.

The “small barge” installs and removes docks and lifts only. Remember, many times its difficult to get our ATF’s down on the beach to do installations. Even if we do get to some of these locations, we could sustain damage to the undercarriage. That’s a costly situation.

The “small barge” has a 60-foot knuckle boom (shown here with only 3 of the lengths opened). There are four more lengths yet to be extended. This allows us to reach your equipment on the shores without the use of our ATF’s.
We can raise your boat lift or dock and swing around to install it where its needed.
In Fall, we return your equipment to the shore without damaging the lawn. Water soaked lawns are no longer a problem.

Another unique feature

Notice that the knuckle boom will move forward and backwards on a “track” in the middle of the barge. The entire boom can move about 30′ forward for extra reach. Combined with a very shallow draft its an innovative and faster way to install on Green Bay.

PWS always is looking for ways to complete the installs faster each year. By becoming more efficient we can service more people.
The recent closure of Port-A-Pier makes it even more important than ever to find ways to handle the extra workload.

You can depend on Pier & Waterfront Solutions to continue to innovate to handle your needs.

One Final Update

Not to be left behind, PWS has also completed the expansion of our large Barge.  The addition of the middle section means we now have a 36′ wide x 45′ Barge.  That’s a 33% increase in the overall size and capacity.

Is a Floating Dock in your future?

Is a Floating Dock in your future?

Not all floating dock systems are created equal. Some are better than others.

For many waterfronts, a floating dock system is a perfect fit. ShoreMaster PolyDock systems float on the water and remain stable in waves up to two feet.

               PolyDock floating dock

How Does it Work?

A floating dock is usually a platform supported on air-tight, buoyant floats. In the case of a PolyDock, the platform is part of the float system. The platform serves two purposes in this case. It is available in 4′ and 6′ widths for more stability.

A gangway connects the floating dock system to the shoreline. The docks are easy for seasonal boat owners to install and remove.

Floating docks are anchored into the water at the shore end and, depending on the dock’s length, at the water end.

Benefits of a Floating Dock

Floating docks are popular for inland lake shorelines. It’s easy to see why. It’s simple to install, add to, and remove modules, allowing the dock’s design to change.

Does a floating dock have to be removed in the winter?

Standard practice dictates you remove the dock in the winter. On small bodies of water, they can be allowed to freeze in place. Freezing in place can occur when there little chance of ice movement in the winter and early spring. If there is any movement, you must remove it each year.

An alternate method allows the dock to move with the ice in a contained area. Marinas use this technique all the time.

DEEP or fluctuating water levels?

The PolyDock system works great on shorelines with deep or fluctuating water levels. There is never a concern about the depth of the water. The flotation allows your dock to adjust along with the water. An anchor holds the floating dock in place.

Are you concerned about the environment?

Are you concerned about the natural environment and the look of your dock? The PolyDock systems’ low profile is the answer.

PolyDock systems set the standard for stability, reliability, and ease of ownership.

ShoreMaster floating dock systems meet or exceed the Hunt Absorption Test. Even in the unlikely event of a puncture to the outer shell, your dock will remain buoyant.

The PolyDock system has rotationally molded outer shells. UV inhibitors infused in the body ensure durability for many seasons to come.

The unique construction gives you unlimited customization options. Install accessories anywhere around your dock perimeter.

Gray Dock Decking – Absolutely Stunning

Gray Dock Decking – Absolutely Stunning Docks

Decorators across the country have embraced gray as the hottest color for your home. Throw pillows, wall colors, furniture, and more now use gray as the primary color.

Thanks to ShoreMaster & Pier & Waterfront Solutions, you can have this stunning color on your dock too!

                     Gray Decking

In the 2020 season, PWS introduced gray options as a custom color for our decking.

Today, gray is no longer a custom color for us. PWS stocks gray Glacier flow-through decking along with the ever popular – tan decking.

PWS also offers gray dock furniture options and benches.

Isn’t Gray decking a sad color?

On the surface, gray may seem like a somber color. Homeowners (and dock owners) love gray as it plays so well with the surrounding colors.

Gray offers a neutral color palette that highlights other colors very well. It is especially true of all the colors present at the lake. Think of the canopy, the landscaping, blue skies, and the water.

Gray also goes GREAT with blues – especially ShoreMaster & PWS blue.

One of PWS‘s most significant advantages in the dock market has always been the number of color options we provide. This new color choice presents yet another opportunity for dock owners.

If you haven’t had a chance yet to check the new gray options, check out the color offered at PWS. Please stop in to ask about our new gray options.

2019 INSTALL SEASON IS UNDERWAY

2019 INSTALL SEASON IS UNDERWAY

The 2019 DOCK INSTALL SEASON HAS BEGUN!

image of Ice Damage

Ice Damage

The install season for 2019 has begun on the Door County peninsula.  We started doing some commercial installs a week ago in select areas.
The Coast Guard has opened the shipping channel to Green Bay, and this means the ice can move in and out with every shift on the wind.

At this early time, we can only do installs in areas where the ice is out, and there is little danger of it floating back in. The results can be disastrous.

Our crews will be expanding into more areas as weather permits.  We’ve all been looking forward to this, and our crews and equipment are ready. While it is impossible to set a firm schedule more than a day out, we continue to make progress.

WHAT PART WILL NATURE PLAY IN THE SCHEDULING?

image of ATF2 install

ATF 2 Install

image of ATF 1

ATF 1 during an install

We know Nature will probably throw a few curves at us.  Last year it was an 18″ snowfall two weeks into the season.

We now have three ATF’s (the big machines we use), and the trucks and trailers are ready.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS YEAR

The water depth looks like it will be up again this year due to the heavy snowfall. Lake Michigan did not freeze over, so there was evaporation throughout the winter. At the same time, there were more late-season snowstorms. If the legs on your dock were barely above the dock last year, you will likely receive a call from our Service Manager about the need to replace them. Longer legs may be necessary to get you safely above the water for storms.
